Professional Background

B.S., Biotechnology, Ningbo University, 2003-2007 (Research Advisor: Prof. Nianjun Xu)

Ph.D., Structural Biology, University of Science and Technology of China, 2007-2012 (Advisor: Prof. Liwen Niu and Maikun Teng)

Summary

Our previous projects include structural and functional studies of vesicle trafficking proteins, proteins and protein complexes corresponding for post-transcriptional modifications and key enzymes participating in bacterial primary metabolisms. Our current projects focus on the mechanistic insights of the biosynthesis of physiologically active secondary metabolites from algaes, structural and functional studies of proteins from bacterial pathogens for drug discovery, and functional analyses of marine animal derived active peptides.

  • Experience      in skills of structural biology research, including gene cloning, protein      expression and purification, protein crystallization, crystal diffraction      data collection and analysis, crystal structure solving and analysis,      protein mutation, protein interaction study, enzymatic assay, molecular      docking, etc.

  • Effective      communicator with >20 publications about structural and functional      studies of proteins and peptides.

Research Interests

· Mechanistic studies of the key enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of physiologically active secondary metabolites from algaes.

· Structural and functional studies of target proteins from bacterial pathogens for drug discovery.

· Preparation and analyses of the active peptides enzymaticly hydrolyzed from proteins from marine animals.
